Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is the largest state institution of higher learning in Greece and one of the largest universities in Europe. With a student body of about 68.500 undergraduate and postgraduate students, over 2.100 members of academic staff, and approximately 1.000 administrative and secretarial staff, and specialised personnel, the University of Athens aims at excellence in both teaching and research across a wide range of disciplines.

The Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens was established in 1999 as an autonomous unit attached to the Department of Philosophy of the University of Athens. The initial purpose of the Lab’s establishment was to facilitate research in the area of applied philosophy and provide teaching support to students and faculty members in both graduate and post-graduate levels of studies. The Lab also commits to conduct empirical and/or theoretical research in all areas of philosophy, with a particular focus on Ethics, Metaethics and Applied Ethics. To this purpose the Lab seeks to foster collaborations with other Laboratories, Research Centers, or Units, as well as with international organizations and societies. The Lab seeks to further and convey knowledge on areas of philosophical research by means of hosting post-graduate programs of study, publishing works of original philosophical research as well as journals, and organizing conferences.

Evangelos D. Protopapadakis

Evangelos D. Protopapadakis was born in Athens in 1972. He studied philosophy, pedagogy and psychology at the University of Athens, wherefrom he obtained his B.Phil in 1997. Protopapadakis completed his PhD Thesis in 2002 (“The Idea of Euthanasia in Contemporary Bioethics”) under the supervision of Prof. T. N. Pelegrinis. He has been teaching at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2004 (first as appointed and then as adjunct lecturer). In 2009 he became a Lecturer in Applied Ethics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (School of Philosophy / Faculty of Philosophy, Pedagogy, Psychology / Department of Philosophy); in 2014 he was elected an Assistant Professor in the same field, and in 2020 he became an Associate Professor. Since 2015 Protopapadakis is the Director of the NKUA Applied Philosophy Research Laboratory and the Head of the Greek Unit of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa). He is also a board member of the NKUA Ethics and Deontology Committee and the Hellenic Pasteur Institute Bioethics Committee. Protopapadakis has authored four books in Greek, one in English, edited one in English, co-edited five in Greek, three in English and one in Serbian.

Ljupcho Mitkovski
Financial director
Ljupco Mitkovski finished his undergraduate studies at the Institute of Philosophy at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. He was Chief and Responsible Editor (2013–2022) of the national philosophical journal "Philosophical Tribune" (18 issues). Chief and Responsible Editor and Technical Editor (October 2002–2010) of "Philosophy", Macedonia's first philosophical journal (29 issues), which became a worldwide publication in 2014. Since October 2013, he has been President of the Philosophical Society, where he participated in several Macedonian local, national, and worldwide philosophy and humanities projects. He has been on the Philosophical Film Festival's Organizational Board since 2015 and Finance Director since 2017. During his work at the Publishing house "Az-Buki," he was member of the Editorial Board of he contributed to over seventy editions of the philosophical edition "Philosophical Library" (2002–2014). He is also Editor-in-Chief or member of or Editorial Board in several anthologies, including "THE ANCIENT IDEAL OF KALOKAGATHIA" (2016), "CHRONOS I KAIROS – ANCIENT CONCEPTS OF TIME" (2017), "ZA DUSHATA" (2017), and "ΛОГОΣ И ТРОПОΣ" (2020). He technically edits "Ili-Ili" publishing house editions (about 70) since 2013. His works have been published in "Philosophy" and "Philosophical Tribuna," as well as other domestic journals in culture and art. He wrote philosophical poetry "Poetry Today & System of Poetry".

Martin Popovski, PhD.
Specialist for Philosophy with Children
Martin Popovski, PhD, graduated from the Institute of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje (2008). From 2009 to 2014, he held the post of demonstrator at the Institute of Philosophy, teaching subjects such as Philosophy Teaching Methodology; Academic Writing; Theory of Knowledge, and Techniques of Scientific Work. Additionally, at the Institute for Gender Studies, he taught Anthropology, Ethics of Social Work, and Science, Technology, and Gender. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Philosophical Society of Macedonia, and in 2011, he became a member of the Executive Board of the PSM. From 2014 to 2018, he served as General Secretary. In 2011, he became a member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Philosophy," which in 2013 grew into an international journal, and in 2013, he became a member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Filosofska tribina." His work in the Philosophy with Children field intensified when he joined the Philosophical Film Festival (2010), i.e., managing the Phil(m)osophy with Children segment within the Educational Program, in which he conducts workshops on Philosophy with Children and holds lectures like "Should we teach children philosophy?". He also delivered presentations at many celebrations related to philosophy, like "Philosophy for Children: Fundamentals, Approaches, and Challenges" (World Philosophy Day, 2014), published in the scientific journal "Philosophical Tribune," 2015; and "Phil(m)osophy for Children" (at the international scientific conference Third International Philosophical Dialogue "East-West") later published in the Proceedings of this conference. In 2021, he held the first course on Philosophy for Children in Macedonia, organized by the educational platform "Ucilnica" (Classroom) and in cooperation with FDM. In 2022, he attended the international conference "Philosophy with Children: Accomplishments and Projections" in Sofia, with a presentation on the topic "Philosophy with Children: The Macedonian Experience."
